STRIKINGLY INDIVIDUAL
Originally designed in 1957 for the renovated Club 44 in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, it is a decidedly architectural armchair, still totally functional. Fully stable, surprisingly comfortable, severe but with character, its seat design derives from the “Cavalletto” system, of which it is an ideal but more unusual continuation.
Club 44 is a decidedly architectural armchair, still strikingly individual and totally functional. Here the classic inverted V pattern that characterizes the system becomes the profile of a leg at the top from which the arm finds its ideal point of support. The resulting overall profile adds a slenderizing touch to this small piece of domestic furniture, making it even more elegant, angular and serious: in a word, distilled through over fifty years of sedimentation, absolute.

Steelcut Trio is a hardwearing woollen upholstery textile with the same construction as Steelcut. Originally designed by Frans Dijkmeijer, it comes in updated colourways crafted by Giulio Ridolfo. The three-dimensional surface of Steelcut Trio resembles small pyramids or steel points. Despite the complexity of the textile’s innovative weave, it has a simple, precise expression. Steelcut Trio is yarn-dyed and made from 3 differently coloured yarns.

One of the great names of Twentieth century Italian design, a committed, cultivated and brilliant designer, capable of embracing the ideals of the Modern Movement and going beyond them with his experimental and extremely original designs, Angelo Mangiarotti has succeeded in applying his unique talent to projects of different scales, ranging from architecture to design. An advocate of rigorous functionalism, he has never neglected the pursuit of elegance and beauty in his work. He pushed beyond conventional boundaries and moved into sculpture with his skillful reflections on plasticity and form, always using contemporary materials and production processes. His approach, and the principles that underlie it, have always been the result of a profound awareness of the importance of values that have an ethical dimension. Angelo Mangiarotti has created his own ‘happiness’ through the ‘correctness’ of his practice, cleverly managing to reconcile the inescapable dualism of ethics and aesthetics.

In 2009, Agape's passion for the culture of design and the long standing collaboration with Angelo Mangiarotti, culminated in the establishment of Agapecasa, dedicated to the re-edition of the original and timeless pieces of one of the greatest masters of post-war Italian design and architecture
The “Mangiarotti Collection” consists of 19 projects carried out carefully following the drawings of Angelo Mangiarotti, 2 of them designed with the Architect Bruno Morassutti and based on the reliefs and study of the original models. The projects carried out by the maestro from the early fifties onwards have been thoroughly analyzed from the technical and constructive point of view, then further checked and re-interpreted to meet the changing needs of our time and adapted to today’s current standards of quality, strength and safety requirements.
The “Mangiarotti Collection” faithfully reproduces some of Mangiarotti’s most famous projects, now made taking into account the need for a more contemporary production, introducing small variations in construction but carefully preserving the theoretical, compositional and formal aspects of one of the great artists of the twentieth century.
As a further guarantee of quality and in line with the ongoing effort to upgrade technology that distinguishes Agape’s production, the “Mangiarotti Collection” is also equipped with an innovative system of certification. Each object in the collection is branded with the signature of the designer while the furniture in marble and stone has an electronic tag. This makes it possible to trace all relevant data and characteristics, from serial number to dealer’s name and even customer, and from the materials to the technologies used in production. In this way signature and tag certify the undiscussed originality of the product.
Agapecasa originates from the vision of Agape, which for over fifty years has been exploring the most intimate spaces of living. The same design approach is applied to two contiguous realms: the bathroom and the home, united by a timeless concept.
