GLASS WORKING TAKES SHAPE
There are objects that do not simply occupy a room; they alter the way the room is read. Lokum, the collection designed by Sabine Marcelis for Acerbis, belongs to this quiet category. Formed in blown glass, it brings matter, light, and color into a measured exchange, where reflection becomes part of the design itself. During Salone del Mobile 2025 in Milan, the collection was presented in a new Petrol Green finish, expanding its palette of amber and smoky grey with a deeper, more grounded tone. Available in three sizes, Lokum can stand alone or gather in shifting compositions, adapting less by function than by atmosphere.
Its Milan appearance also unfolded within The Curated Core, Acerbis’ collaboration with Plan C Framework, the concept store by Carolina Castiglioni on Via Manzoni. The installation placed selected Acerbis pieces in conversation with co-branded editions reinterpreted by Plan C through finish and color. Rather than framing design as a static object, the project treated it as a shared language: one shaped by instinct, proportion, and the personal intelligence of color. In that setting, Lokum felt especially at home, its reflective body absorbing the nuances of the installation while remaining unmistakably itself. Beyond Milan, the Lokum at Villa del Grumello offers a different register. Set above Lake Como, surrounded by parkland and marked by centuries of architectural transformation, the villa carries a history of hospitality, restoration, and cultural life. Against its neoclassical lines, decorative interiors, and generous windows, Lokum enters quietly, catching the light rather than competing with it.
Side table. Made of crucible colored blown glass. Lokum is available in three different sizes and three different colors. Its is very flexible, used either as a single piece or in combination with other elements to create unique and personalized configurations.

Sabine Marcelis is an artist and designer who runs her practice from the harbor of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. After graduating from the Design Academy of Eindhoven in 2011, Marcelis began working within the fields of product, installation and spatial design with a strong focus on materiality. Her work is characterized by pure forms which highlight material properties. Marcelis applies a strong aesthetic point of view to her collaborations with industry specialists. This method of working allows her to intervene in the manufacturing process, using material research and experimentation to achieve new and surprising visual effects for projects both showcased in museums and commissioned by commercial clients and fashion houses. Sabine considers her designs to be true sensorial experiences: the experience becomes the function, with a refined and unique aesthetic. Her work has been acquired into the permanent collection of Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and The National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, AU among others. She has recently won the prestigious Elle Deco International Design award 2023 ‘Designer of the year’ and Wallpaper awards ‘Designer of the year 2020’.
