light and shadow, transparency and reflections
Designed in 2021 by the Barcelona-based duo OrtegaGuijarro for ClassiCon, the Sol Side Table thoughtfully balances form, function, and visual poetry. Constructed from layered glass panels in subtly varied sizes, Sol shifts its appearance as perspective and lighting change, creating delicate interactions of transparency, reflections, and shadow. This versatility led the Stylepark jury to award Sol the prestigious Stylepark Selected Award in 2021, highlighting its capacity to blend gracefully into diverse settings while expressing a clear contemporary identity.
Behind the Sol Table stand Carlos Guijarro and Alex Ortega, whose studio, founded in 2017, merges industrial precision with artistic intuition. Their approach centers around curiosity and experimentation, drawing inspiration from the everyday details that surround us. This vision comes to life through a short film by OrtegaGuijarro and producer Robin Barnes, with music composed by Edgar Pacheca, capturing the essence of Sol’s design: an exploration of simplicity and complexity, constantly shifting silhouettes, and the interplay between light and shadow.
